On Sunday, Fort Wayne struck first in the third inning on an RBI-single by Carlos Belen to take a 1-0 lead.

The score stayed the same until the seventh inning when West Michigan’s Leo Laffita lofted a sacrifice fly to tie the contest.

An inning later, Will Maddox launched a line drive sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Cam Gibson from third base and giving the Whitecaps their final lead.

Whitecaps reliever Toller Boardman (3-3) retired four TinCaps in the late innings to earn his third win of the season. Gerson Moreno took over in the eighth inning and got his sixth save.

Gibson led the Whitecaps at the plate with two hits.
