The Holton softball team successfully defended its Division 4 regional 4 regional championship on Saturday.
The Red Devils defeated Fife Lake in the semifinal game 15-5, then went on to beat Vestaburg 12-8 in the extra-inning championship game.
Morgan Murat hit a bases-loaded triple in the top of the 10th inning of the finals to clinch the regional title for Holton.
The Red Devils have now won 14 games in a row. They advance to Tuesday’s state quarterfinal game against Coleman at 4 p.m. at Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant.
The game will be a rematch of last year’s quarterfinal, which Holton won 4-2. The Red Devils advanced to the state semifinals last year before being eliminated.
