Tigers 2, White Sox 1 (7 inn.) – The Tigers opened their road trip with a win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday night in a shortened game due to a rain storm.

The White Sox opened the scoring with an RBI single by Tim Anderson in the third inning.

Detroit’s starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey picked up his first road win of the season, allowing one run on eight hits in 5 1/3 innings.

The game was officially called in the seventh inning after a two hour and five minute rain delay.

The Tigers now 50-46 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians. They are four games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the final playoff spot.
