The Blue Jays, a team of local former college players, defeated the Pontiac Red Birds 4-3 in extra innings, then lost to Jet Box, a Canadian-American team from the Detroit area, 2-1.

Ched Gaskin sealed the victory over Pontiac with an RBI sacrifice fly. Relief Pitcher Brad Penny was credited with the victory.

Eric Robillard drove in the lone run for the Blue Jays in the loss to Jet Box.

The split left the Blue Jays with a 2-1 record in pool play, which allowed them to advance to the NABF tournament semifinals today against the Flint Mustangs at 10 a.m. at Mona Shores High School. If they win they will play in the championship game at Marsh Field at 1 p.m.

The winner of the tournament will earn a spot in the NABF Major Division World Series in Battle Creek.
