Former Muskegon High school and Michigan State basketball standout Deyonta Davis has agreed to a three-year contract with the Memphis Grizzlies, according to a report from the Vertical.LSJ Logo incert

The deal, reportedly for $4 million, is the largest guaranteed contract for an American-born player who was taken in the second round the NBA draft, the news report said.

Davis, who was projected by many to be taken in the first round of last month’s draft, was the first pick in the second round. He was drafted by the Boston Celtics, who quickly traded his rights to the Grizzlies.

With the deal, Davis will be eligible for free agency before his fourth season, a year earlier than if he had been drafted in the first round, the news report said.
