Whitecaps fall to Lansing to close out the weekend, lose Hill for the season

The West Michigan Whitecaps fell in the series finale on Sunday 4-2 to Lansing Lugnuts at Fifth Third Ballpark.

LSJ Logo incertWest Michigan won only once in the four game series with the Lugnuts, losing 4-2 on Thursday, 5-3 in 11 innings on Saturday in a completion of Friday night’s game, before winning Saturday night 3-2.

On Sunday, Joey Havrilak led the Whitecaps with three hits and one RBI.

It was reported on early Sunday morning by Lynn Henning of the Detroit News that Whitecap center fielder and 2014 Tiger first round draft pick Derek Hill will be out until at least midseason 2017.

Hill will reportedly undergo Tommy John surgery this month after tearing his collateral ligament last week in a game against Bowling Green.
