“We did a great job of responding to a bad week,” Nummerdor said, referring to the opening-game loss to Lake Michigan Catholic. “I’m very happy with all of the Sport Clips 2016 football adkids, they all contributed and we scored in all three phases of the game. You can’t ask for much more than that.”

Mitch Erickson led a balanced ground attack with 50 yards on five carries while Nick Swenson had 49 yards, including a touchdown, on six carries. Brandon Epplett added 38 yards, including a touchdown, on five attempts.

Quarterback Blake Fialek rushed for 22 yards and a touchdown and passed for 31 yards and another score. Jake Jalovec also threw a touchdown pass for Holton.

Brent McLaughlin and Nick Swenson each caught single touchdown passes for the Red Devils.

The Holton defense also had a great day.

Mason Butchart had seven tackles, including four for losses, as well as two sacks and one forced fumble. Erickson had nine tackles, including two for losses, along with two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble.

Epplett added six tackles and one interception, McLaughlin had three tackles and one interception for a touchdown. Dalton Giddings recovered a fumble for a touchdown and Cameron Whitener chipped in four tackles, including two for a loss.
