Kaleb Hams’ four-goal performance, all in the second half, propelled the Shelby soccer team over Grant 6-1 on Monday night in the first round of Division 3 district play.
Shelby’s Jake Lankfer and Fernando Cabrera scored goals three minutes apart in the first half to give the Tigers a 2-0 advantage.
Grant responded with its lone goal by Chris Barendreght late in the first half to cut Shelby’s lead to 2-1 at halftime.
Hams put the game away for Shelby with his four goal second half.
Carlos Avilez and Lankfer added two assists for Shelby, while Cabrera chipped in with one assist.
Shelby will face Whitehall on Wednesday at Hart High School in a Division 3 district semifinal game.
