The Muskegon Community College women’s basketball team responded to a tough loss on its home court on Wednesday with a big victory on Thursday.LSJ Logo incert

On Wednesday the Jayhawks fell 65-55 to the Hope College JV. The game wasJayhawk tied 48-48 after three quarters, but Hope pulled away in the fourth.

Kalisa Williams led the MCC effort with 21 points, four rebounds and three steals. Camaryia Williams and Bailey Freeland added 12 points apiece.

On Thursday the Jayhawks responded with a convincing 73-48 victory over St. Clair County Community College.

MCC led 40-27 at halftime, then pulled away in the second half, allowing every player on the team to see some court time.

Bailey Freeland led a balanced scoring effort with 17 points while Kalisa Williams added 14 and Montajah Kitchen had 11. Jena’a Matthews grabbed 10 rebounds while Camaryia Williams and Yojaira Campos snagged eight and seven boards, respectively.

MCC improved to 3-1 on the season.
