Muskegon scored a season-high eight goals and rolled to an 8-2 victory over the Omaha Lancers at the Ralston Arena in Nebraska.jacks-transparent

Collin Adams paced the Lumberjacks with a three-goal hat trick while Andrei Svechnikov added two goals and an assist.  Casey Gilling chipped in with three assists for Muskegon.

The Lumberjacks, who lost Friday and Saturday in Sioux City, improved their record to 12-7 on the season, which is good for second place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference. Muskegon trials the first-place Chicago Steel by two points in the standings.

The Lumberjacks will remain on the road on Wednesday, playing the Team USA Under-18 squad in Plymouth, Michigan.

Adams opened the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal at the 7:02 mark of the first period. Muskegon led the Lancers 1-0 after the first period despite being outshot by a 12-4 margin.

The Lumberjacks offense exploded in the second period, outscoring Omaha 4-1 to take a 5-1 lead. Adams scored a pair of goals during the second stanza (1:09 and 13:25) to complete his hat trick.

Muskegon’s Svechnikov (9:32) and Jordan Timmons (15:20) added goals in the second period, while Filip Suchy (15:04) scored for the Lancers.

Omaha cut its deficit to 5-2 at the 1:24 mark of the third period on a goal by Michael Joyaux on the power play.

The Lumberjacks responded with three unanswered goals to close out the night.

Svechnikov notched his second goal just 4:13 into the third period for Muskegon, while Koby Bender and Keenan Suthers added goals at the 7:16 and 15:31 mark, respectively.

Muskegon’s goaltender Adam Brizgala picked up the win in net, stopping 36 of 38 Omaha shots.
