The Muskegon Lumberjacks hosted Cedar Rapids for Military Night sponsored by Sport Clips – Muskegon this past Saturday.
Timing was just right as the Lumberjacks arose to the occasion and netted three third-period goals to come from behind and win, 4-2.
Sport Clips – Muskegon also stepped up for the occasion on the Veterans Day weekend. The Muskegon hair care specialist handed out over $1,000 in free haircuts for veterans on Veterans Day and raised over $1,800 for the VFW’s Help a Hero scholarship fund.
“The number of free haircuts exceeded our goals, that’s for sure,” said Sport Clips-Muskegon owner Stacey Patulski. “We fell a little short of our overall goal but the support we saw for our veterans is what really inspired all of us and why we do this each year.”
The Help a Hero scholarship program gives financial resources to military service members who served on the battlefield but are now seeking to complete their higher education. Nationally, Sport Clips has raised over a million dollars for the program to date.
