The Fremont boys basketball team used balanced scoring to defeat Shelby 58-30 in an opening night non-conference matchup on Tuesday.

Connor Gronso led Fremont with 13 points while Ryan Geeting added 11.

Dominick Byrne had eight assists for Fremont, which took control by grabbing a 24-7 lead after one quarter. The Packers had 22 assists and only seven turnovers in the game.

HART 62, WHITE CLOUD 40 – The Pirates started their season strong with a non-conference win over White Cloud on Tuesday night. Hart held a 15-5 advantage after one quarter, 33-22 at the half and 50-31 after the third. Garrett Eisenlohr led the Pirates with 15 points while Austin VanderLaan scored 14.

RAVENNA 57, ALGOMA CHRISTIAN 39 – The Bulldogs jumped out to a 22-7 lead after the first quarter. Trevor Hazen, Jared Broton, and Anthony Arbogast combined for 44 of the 57 Ravenna points.

CALVIN CHRISTIAN 47, WESTERN MICHIGAN CHRISTIAN 41 – The Warriors were able to tie the game up in the fourth quarter but were unable to grab the lead down the stretch. Dan Ray led WMC with 10 points while Garrett Kraker added eight.

COOPERSVILLE 54, KENT CITY 47 – Coopersville gained a seven-point edge after three quarters that proved to be the difference in the close game. Fraser Wilson paced Kent City with 13 points while Jase Dailey added 12 points.
