The Fremont boys’ basketball team registered its second win in as many games with a 55-45 CSAA Conference victory over Chippewa Hills on Friday night.

The game was tied 7-6 after a sluggish first quarter, but then the Packers found their game, grabbed a 29-13 halftime lead and cruised to the victory.

Sam Kaastra had a team-high 13 points for Fremont while Cooper Kukal (11 points, 14 rebounds) and Ryan Geeting (11 points, 11 rebounds) both recorded double-doubles for the Packers.

KENT CITY 52, HOLTON 33 – The Eagles held the Red Devils to a combined four points in the second and third quarters in the CSAA Silver Division opener for both teams. Cody Bowers led Kent City with 10 points. Holton was paced by Kevin Slowik, who tallied 16 points. Both teams are now 1-1 on the season.

SPRING LAKE 68, FRUITPORT 23 – The Lakers had 12 different players in the scoring column Friday night. Spring Lake’s Jack VanWingen led all scorers with 14 points while Cameron Ball chipped in 11. Cameron Oleen paced Fruitport with 12 points. Spring Lake improved its record to 2-0. Fruitport fell to 0-2.

NORTHVIEW 64, REETHS-PUFFER 27 – A 25-6 second quarter disadvantage was too much for the Rockets to overcome on Friday night. Carter Fulton led Reeths-Puffer with 10 points.
