Jenny Beckman’s hot outside shooting stroke and Shelby’s tight defense lifted the Tigers to a 68-35 victory over Hart in a West Michigan Conference clash on Thursday.
Beckman connected on 5-of-8 from beyond the 3-point line and finished with 30 points. She also tallied four assists and five steals.
The Tigers’ Tori Mussell was also just shy of a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Mckenna Peters and Jaren Smith added seven points apiece for Shelby.
Tigers’ coach Sarah Wolting praised her team’s defensive intensity, which forced the Pirates into a 25 percent shooting performance.
