Lakeview’s 3-point attempt at the buzzer refused to fall, allowing the Holton boys basketball team to hang on for a 43-40 victory in CSAA league action on Friday.

Holton improved to 5-5 overall and 1-3 in conference play.

After trailing 11-6 after the first quarter, Holton rallied to take a 21-19 lead into halftime, and hung on to its slim advantage for the rest of the contest.

Kevin Slowik paced the Red Devils with 18 points, while Kyle Wildfong added 16.

KENT CITY 76, HESPERIA 38 – Kent City (7-2, 4-1) held a 32-22 lead at halftime before pulling away in the second half. Jace Dailey led the Eagles with 14 points while Fraser Wilson added 13. Scott Peters led Hesperia (1-5, 1-3) with 13 points.

FREMONT 70, TRI COUNTY 27 – Ryan Geeting scored 12 of his 18 points in the first quarter to help the Packers (6-4, 4-2) jump out to a 23-7 lead they wouldn’t surrender.
