Four players scored in double figures as the Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team edged Jackson College 80-76 on Friday.

The Jayhawks, who are in first place in the MCCAA’s Western Conference, have won five in a row. They are now 13-4 overall and 7-1 in conference play.

MCC only led by one point at halftime, 37-36. The game remained close the rest of the way, but the Jayhawks pulled out the win down the stretch with big buckets from Kyle Ervin Jr. and Daryl Kirkland and free throws from Ricarri Stimage.

“This was a grind from start to finish, and I thought we did a great job of keeping our heads and executing when it ultimately mattered most,” said MCC Coach Dave Schlump. “It was a good, tough win tonight.”

Ervin finished with 26 points, Kirkland had 19, Stimage scored 16 and Mike Williams added 10.

The Jayhawks will host second-place Ancilla College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
