The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team used a second quarter burst to gain an 89-75 road win on Saturday over Kalamazoo Valley Community College.

The game was tied at 28-28 with eight minutes left in the second quarter before the Jayhawks went on a 14-3 run to close out the first half with an 11-point lead.

The Jayhawks went up by more than 20 points in the second half and KVCC never got any closer than 14.

“I’m very pleased with this road win,” said MCC Coach Dave Schlump. “It is never easy to win on the road and this place is always a hard place to play.”

MCC was led by Mike Williams, who had 20 points, and Kyle Ervin Jr., who added 17.

MCC improved to 9-4 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Jayhawks will host Glen Oaks Community College on Wednesday at 7 :30 p.m.
