The Muskegon boys basketball team had little trouble staying unbeaten on Friday, cruising to a 64-23 victory over Mona Shores in O-K Black Conference action.

The Big Reds, now 4-0 overall and 1-0 in the conference, led 25-5 after the first quarter, 41-13 at halftime and 60-18 after three quarters.

Muskegon coach Keith Guy said he noticed improvement in his team since its last game, but says there is work left to do.

“I thought we were better tonight – the intensity was there,” Guy said. “We rebounded well, we got the 50/50 balls, we had a little better flow offensively.

“This team hasn’t even scratched the surface of how good they can be, but they’re showing signs.”

Anthony Bethea scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds to lead the Big Reds. Sam Cornett added 13 points and eight rebounds while Markell Jackson had nine points and nine boards.

James Gilbert and Braxton Carson each scored four points for Mona Shores.
