The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team remained unbeaten in conference play with an 83-68 victory over Kellogg Community College in Battle Creek on Saturday.

MCC hit seven 3-pointers in the first half – including three apiece by Kyle Ervin Jr. and Sergio Diaz – and led 42-28 at the break. Kellogg pulled within nine points during the second half, but could get no closer.

Diaz paced the Jayhawks with 21 points, Ervin added 20 points and 15 rebounds, Mike Williams had 11 points and eight boards while Daryl Kirkland finished with 10 points.

“Overall I pleased with our effort,” said MCC Coach Dave Schlump. “I was not pleased with the way we started either half, though. I thought we did a great job of sharing the ball as well as taking care of the ball with 21 team assists to only seven team turnovers.”

The Jayhawks, now 8-2 overall and 2-0 in conference play, will host Lansing Community College on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. Lansing CC is also undefeated in the conference.
