Lucas Schumm poured in 20 points to lead the league-leading Whitehall boys basketball team to a 66-44 victory over Oakridge on Friday in West Michigan Conference action.

The Vikings only led by five, 28-23, after two quarters, before pulling away in the second half.

Brandon Rake and Drew Young added 17 and 10 points, respectively, for Whitehall, which improved to 8-1 overall and 7-0 in conference play.

Alex Shoop led the way for Oakridge with 10 points.

MONTAGUE 70, SHELBY 51 – Montague’s 21-8 second quarter allowed the Wildcats to gain a lead they wouldn’t give up. Josh Weesies’ 24 points and nine rebounds set the tone for Montague (7-2, 6-1). Three other Wildcats scored in double figures – Kenyan Johnston with 14 points, Merritt Hamann with 12 points and eight rebounds, and Hunter Mosher with 10 points. Shelby was led by Spencer Brown with 19 points.

NORTH MUSKEGON 61, HART 36 – Riley Fairfield carried the Norsemen (5-4, 3-3) with a double-double on Friday night, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Vernonell Smith added 18 points for North Muskegon while Thomas Montgomery pulled down 10 boards. Hart (4-5, 2-5) was led by Alex Dodson with 11 points.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 65, RAVENNA 35 – Jeffrey Carrier and Ryan Mount’s double-doubles were just about all the Spartans needed to cruise past the Bulldogs. Carrier finished with 14 points, 10 rebounds and six steals while Mount ended the night with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Tyler Bromley added another 10 points. Ravenna was led by Ryan Osmer with nine points.
