Hart’s varsity boys basketball team relied on a steady hand at the free throw line to secure a tight victory over West Michigan Conference rival Ravenna on Thursday.

The Pirates sank 10-of-12 at the charity stripe in the fourth quarter, helping them score a 56-51 win. Hart improves to 5-10 overall and 3-8 in league play.

Hart took the lead midway through the first quarter and never relinquished it, as the Pirates took a 24-20 lead at the half, then a 36-30 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Hart nearly had four players reach double figures, as Alex Dodson led the way with 16, Alec Kempker added 12, Austin Vanderlaan tallied 10, and Garrett Eisenlohr netted nine.

For Ravenna, Josh VanderWoude had 12 points and three rebounds, while Trevor Hazen totaled 11 points, five rebounds and two steals.
