Kyle Ervin Jr. recorded 24 points and 12 rebounds while Sergio Diaz added 23 points and nine rebounds to lead the Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team to a 99-84 victory over Glen Oaks Community College on Saturday.

The nationally-ranked Jayhawks improved to 18-5 overall and 12-2 in the MCCAA’s Western Conference. They remain tied for first place in the conference with Lansing Community College.

The Jayhawks scored the first 10 points of the game and led 51-38 at halftime. They helped themselves with great ball distribution, totaling 26 assists in the contest.

“We knew going in we were going to get their best shot today, and that’s exactly what we faced,” said MCC Coach Dave Schlump. “But we stuck together and did what we had to do to win. That’s what good teams do this time of year.”

Ricarri Stimage scored 15 points and had a game-high nine assists for MCC. Michael Williams added 14 points.

The Jayhawks will host Mid-Michigan Community College Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.
