The Mason County Central boys basketball team cruised past Hart 54-36 on Wednesday in the Class C district semifinals on its home court.

The Spartans jumped out to a 12-4 lead after the first quarter, led 25-15 at halftime and had a 38-29 advantage heading into the final stanza.

The Pirates cut their deficit to six points multiple times during the fourth quarter but failed to complete a comeback.

Ryan Mount led MCC with 15 points and seven rebounds while Joe Rader added 12 points and seven boards. Jeffery Carrier scored eight points and grabbed 10 rebounds for the Spartans.

The Pirates were paced by Alex Dodson with 14 points and six rebounds while Alex VanderLaan chipped in with six points.

The Spartans will host Holton on Friday night in the Class C district finals. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
