The Orchard View and Whitehall baseball teams split a doubleheader on Wednesday night.

The Cardinals defeated Whitehall 2-1 in the opening game, then the Vikings responded with a 4-3 victory over Orchard View in the nightcap.

Orchard View scored both of its runs in Game 1 in the fifth inning on an RBI double by Kris Veen and single from Luis Suarez.

Suarez picked up the win on the mound for the Cardinals, tossing six innings and striking out 11 batters.

The Vikings (1-1) were led by Ethan Schaeffer and Judd VanBergen with two hits apiece.

Casey Huizenga suffered the loss on the mound for Whitehall, allowing two runs on three hits in six innings while striking out 11 hitters.

In Game 2 the Vikings were led by VanBergen and Derek McCollom with two hits each while Huizenga knocked in the game-winning run with a single.

Schaeffer picked up the win in relief for Whitehall, allowing one run on two hits in three innings.

The Cardinals were led by AJ Anderson with an RBI and run scored while Veen doubled in a run.
