The Muskegon Community College baseball team split its doubleheader with Kalamazoo Valley on Saturday, falling 10-9 in Game 1, but responding with a 5-0 victory in Game 2.

Brett Veltema led the Jayhawk hitters in Game 1 with three hits and four runs batted in while Nate Bonter added four hits and three runs scored. Colin McClelland added two hits and two RBIs for Muskegon, including a home run.

In Game 2, Cade Cintorino pitched a complete game, four-hit shutout for MCC to pick up the win.

On offense, the Jayhawks were led by Carson Hopman and Jacob Sposaro, who each had two hits. Hopman had two doubles while Sposaro also scored a run.

With the split, Muskegon is now 17-18-1 overall and 6-9 in conference play.
