The Grant baseball squad split a doubleheader with Sparta on Monday.

The Tigers dropped the opening game 13-12, then cruised to an 11-6 win against the Spartans in the nightcap.

In Game 1 Grant was led by Casey Geers with two hits, three RBIs and two walks while Ian Francisco, Tony Hubbard and Tommy Kelley added two hits apiece. Spencer Naffziger chipped in with a home run and two RBIs.

Gabe Castro allowed four runs in three innings on the mound for the Tigers and Francisco tossed 2 1/3 innings.

In Game 2 the Tigers were paced by Francisco with three hits, including a home run, and four RBIs while Zach VanderWeide contributed with a first inning grand slam homer.

Kelley pitched the Victory for Grant, striking out three batters in seven innings of work.
