The Holton baseball team defeated Hesperia 8-5 on Tuesday in Game 1 of its doubleheader, before the nightcap was suspended due to darkness with the game tied.

In Game 1, Blake Fialek led the Red Devils with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs.

Kyle Wildfong also had two hits and two RBIs for Holton and teammate Dalton Giddings added two hits, including a double, and an RBI.

Pitcher Brandon Epplett picked up the win, pitching 4 1/3 innings, allowing one run on four hits while striking out seven Panther batters.

Gage Balkema and Lucas Balkema each had two hits to lead Hesperia.
