The Muskegon Community College baseball team split a doubleheader against Lake Michigan College over the weekend.

The Jayhawks cruised past Lake Michigan College 11-1 in the opening contest, then fell 14-12 during the nightcap.

MCC is now 10-13-1 on the season and 2-6 in conference play.

In Game 1 the Jayhawks were paced by Carson Hopman with four hits, which included a homerun and double, and two RBIs, while Ryan Fields blasted a homerun and had two RBIs. Collin McClelland chipped in with a double and two RBIs.

Brendan Kelly pitched the complete game win for the Jayhawks, allowing one unearned run on three hits in six innings while striking out four batters.

In Game 2 MCC was led by Mitchell Wilson, Brett Veltema and Hopman with two hits apiece while McClelland homered during the nightcap.

Cade Cintorion took the loss on the mound for the Jayhawks, allowing seven earned runs on four hits while walking four batters.

The Jayhawks will travel to face Calvin College on Tuesday.
