An offensive outburst powered Kent City to a 15-5 five-inning victory in Game 1, but White Cloud emerged victorious 3-1 in the nightcap in a pitcher’s duel on Tuesday.

Kent City busted out to a 10-4 lead in the second inning with the help of Paige Mortensen. Her five-hit, three-walk, four-strikeout pitching performance held White Cloud’s batters in check, while her two hits, two walks and three RBIs at the plate led the Eagles scoring outburst.

Game 2 was a tale of two pitching gems. Blaire Mortensen went all seven innings for Kent City, striking out five and allowing only four hits and two walks.

But the Indians pitching responded, holding the Eagles to just four hits.
