It was a struggle at the plate for the Spring Lake varsity baseball team on Thursday, as the Lakers were shut out by Grand Rapids Catholic Central in an O-K Blue Conference contest, 4-0.
Spring Lake starter Rylan Peets took the loss, although he allowed just one hit and one earned run in five strong innings.
David Rumpts and Brendan Bectel recorded the only hits for the Lakers.
