The Spring Lake softball team finished second on Saturday in the Lakeshore Grand Slam tournament at Softball World.

After opening up with a 5-2 loss to Forest Hills Eastern, the Lakers defeated Alma 2-1 and Zeeland West 11-0 in pool play.

In the championship game, Spring Lake fell to Wayland 9-4.

Lauren Hellman led the Laker offense on the day with five hits while Jenna Core had five hits and four RBIs. Core hit a two-run home run in the championship game.

Lindsey Paggeot added four hits and four RBIs for Spring Lake while Molly Poole and Kileah Rymal also had four hits.

Spring Lake is now 5-2 on the season after going 2-2 on Saturday.
