The West Michigan Whitecaps finished off a three-game sweep of the Fort Wayne TinCaps with 14 hits in an 8-2 win Wednesday afternoon at Fifth Third Ballpark.

West Michigan broke the game open with four sixth-inning runs. Danny Woodrow drove home a run on an RBI bunt single and Blaise Salter highlighted the inning with a three-run double.

A Fort Wayne run in the seventh closed the ‘Caps lead to 5-2, but West Michigan responded with three insurance runs in the eighth inning to widen the score to 8-2. Robson singled home a run and Cole Bauml brought home two more runs with a triple to right field.

Eudis Idrogo recorded another solid pitching start for West Michigan, going six innings while allowing eight hits and striking out a season-high six batters.

Cam Gibson and Salter paced the Whitecaps with three-hit games, and Salter knocked in four runs.

The Whitecaps, who now have a season-high six-game win streak, improved to 12-8. They will begin a four-game road series against the Lake County Captains on Thursday night.
