Lukas Evans found Mason County Central’s pitching to his liking on Wednesday.

He had two hits, two RBIs, scored two runs and had a stolen base in Whitehall’s 6-2 victory over the Spartans in the opener of a West Michigan Conference doubleheader.

Evans stayed hot in Game 2, collecting two more hits, scoring a run and stealing another base as Whitehall completed the sweep, 7-2.

Casey Huizenga pitched the win for the Vikings in the opener, scattering four hits with four strikeouts and no walks in four innings. He also had two hits, an RBI and stole a base. Alec Milliron added two hits for Whitehall.

Pitcher Ben VanSumeren got the win for Whitehall in the nightcap, tossing five scoreless innings while scattering two hits, striking out four and walking only one.

Tom Balaskovitz had two hits, including a double, and knocked in a run for the Vikings, who improved to 7-9 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

Mason County Central fell to 1-11 and 0-8.
