Alyssa Fessenden had a huge day on Saturday, going 8-for-12 at the plate with seven RBIs, to lead the Oakridge softball team to a 3-0 record and a championship in the Kubasiak Ravenna-Kent City Neighborhood Tournament.

Fessenden also pitched the win in the championship game, a 16-2 victory over Fruitport. She scattered seven hits and struck out eight.

Oakridge beat Kent City 12-1 in the first game of the tournament. Kayla Fessenden was the winning pitcher, allowing only one hit and striking out six in five innings.

The Eagles beat Comstock Park 13-5 in the semifinals. Madison Carroll pitched a five-hitter in five innings.

Other leading hitters for Oakridge in the tournament were Carroll, Hannah Reinhold and Sophia Wiard, who all went 6-for-12. Reinhold knocked in six runs.

Oakridge improved to 14-1 on the season.
