The Muskegon Risers had success in their first game as part of a summer league, beating RWB Adria 3-2 on Saturday in Chicago.

The Risers, who have been an independent semipro soccer team for the past two years, are now competing in the Premier League of America.

Muskegon scored first when Michael Mayberry connected with a goal in the first half. RWB Adria answered a few minutes later, and the score was tied 1-1 at halftime.

Miguel Flores gave the Risers a 2-1 lead with a goal about 10 minutes into the second half. Adria tied the score again a few minutes later, then Flores scored the winning goal with just under 10 minutes to play.

The Risers will play their second game next Saturday in Auburn Hills against Carpathia FC. The team’s first five games will be on the road. The Risers’ first home game will be June 10.
