The Muskegon Catholic baseball squad took over the top spot of the Lakes 8 Conference after sweeping Ludington in a doubleheader on Friday.

The Crusaders won the opening game 4-2, then cruised past the Orioles 6-2 in the nightcap.

Riley St. Amour tossed the win for MCC in Game 1 while Mason Convertini led the offense with two hits.

MCC’s Bobby Ahern, Devin Comes and Duy Nguyen each added a hit and an RBI.

The Crusaders were paced in Game 2 by Comes, who pitched the victory, allowing two unearned run and striking out five batters.

Ahern led the MCC offense with two hits and an RBI while Comes chipped in with two runs scored and a hit.

The Crusaders are now 11-1 in league play while Ludington falls to 11-3 on the season.
