The Muskegon Risers traveled to Wisconsin on Friday and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Milwaukee Torrent in a Premier League of America soccer contest.

The Risers had multiple opportunities  to score, particularly early in the game, but failed to cash in. Milwaukee scored the only goal late in the game on a bicycle kick.

Milwaukee now has the upper hand in the battle for the Wischigan Trophy, which will be awarded to the Risers or Torrent, based on the combined score of the two-game series between the teams.

The Risers and Milwaukee will meet again in Muskegon on Aug. 12 in the final game of the regular season.

The Risers are now 1-2-1 on the season. They will play on the road next weekend, then have their home opener June 10 at 6 p.m. The game will be the Risers’ first at their new home field, Muskegon Catholic Central’s Kehren Stadium.
