Orchard View softball team suffers first conference loss, gets even in the nightcap

The Orchard View softball team, which has been red-hot all season, was slowed a bit on Friday in a loss to Manistee in the first game of a Lakes 8 doubleheader.

The Cardinals fell4-1 and suffered their first conference loss of the season. OV pitcher Halee Holman had eight strikeouts in the losing effort. Hunter Keller knocked in Morgan Taylor for the Cardinals’ only run.

Orchard View got even in the nightcap, beating the Chippewas 2-1. Allison TenHove pitched the win, striking out seven. Cassidee White had three hits and one RBI while TenHove and Mason Lysiak had two hits apiece.

The Cardinals are now 23-4 overall and 7-1 in the Lakes 8.
