Brian Thompson shut down the Montague baseball team for six innings on Wednesday, leading Ravenna to a 2-0 West Michigan Conference victory in the first game of a doubleheader.

Ravenna scored twice in the first inning and held on for the win behind strong pitching. Thompson only allowed two hits while striking out five.

David Thompson pitched one inning of relief and recorded the save for the Bulldogs.

Montague got even in the nightcap with a 7-1 victory. The Wildcats scored five runs in the first inning and two more in the fourth to take control.

Dylan Stever got the win on the mound for Montague while Zachary Buchberger recorded the save in relief. Sebastian Archer had two hits.

Montague is now 11-6 overall and 6-2 in conference play.
