The Shelby baseball team swept a non-league doubleheader from Hesperia on Thursday, 7-4 and 5-4.

Shelby pitcher Cody DeVries went the distance in Game 1, scattering five hits while striking out seven and walking two. Jon Hughey had two hits and two RBIs while Kristian Oberlin also had two hits. Simon Payne added an RBI single.

Matt Felt pitched a three-hitter for Shelby in the nightcap. He also led the offense with three hits while Oberlin and Jonah Kelley added two apiece. Hughey knocked in two runs while Brent Worth drove in one.

Shelby improved to 21-12 on the season.
