The West Michigan Whitecaps snapped their two game losing streak with a 4-0 victory over the Lake County Captains in Willowick Ohio on Friday.

West Michigan is now 27-14, a half game behind Dayton in the Midwest League Eastern Division.

Whitecaps starter Austin Sodders pitched six scoreless innings, improving his record to 5-0 on the year. He allowed two hits and struck out six, lowering his ERA to 0.73 on the season.

With a 1-0 lead in the third inning, Jacob Robson doubled to center ield to score Austin Athmann and Danny Woodrow, extending the lead to 3-0.

A Cam Gibson solo home run in the fifth inn0ing was the final offense on the night.

Josh Lester led the Whitecaps’ offense with three hits.

West Michigan will continue its four-game series at Lake County on Saturday with first pitch at 6:30 p.m.
