West Michigan Whitecaps pitchers were in a groove in a 6-2 win over host Lake County on Saturday.

Starting pitcher Greg Soto had a career-high 12 strikeouts, and combined with the bullpen to register a team season-high 16 K’s on the night.

Back-to-back RBI-doubles by Danny Pinero and Drew Longley gave West Michigan an early 2-0 lead, and Danny Woodrow’s RBI single in the fifth put the team up for good with a 4-1 lead.

Longley led the Whitecaps at the plate, going 3-for-4, scoring two runs and knocking in one. Blaise Salter added an RBI single.

Soto kept his record unblemished at 4-0 on the season, giving up just one run on five hits and a walk for the Whitecaps, who improved to 28-14 on the season.

West Michigan caps off its four-game series today at Lake County today at 1:30 p.m.
