The Muskegon Clippers fell 9-1 to the Irish Hills Leprechauns at Siena Heights University in Adrian.

The loss was the fourth in a row for the Clippers.

Irish Hills came out swinging early, scoring one run in the first inning, two in the second, and four in the third.

The Clippers got on the board with a Tavan Shahidi’s RBI triple in the fifth inning.

Tyler Trovinger led the Muskegon offense with two hits, while Shahidi, Bryce Kelley, Nolan Bryant and Peter Zimmerman each had one hit.

Clippers pitcher Mitch Ashcraft took the loss, throwing 5 2/3 innings while allowing nine runs (seven earned). Brian Taggert threw 2 1/3 innings of scoreless relief with four strikeouts.

The Clippers are now 2-5 on the season and in last place in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate Baseball League’s Northern Division.

The Clippers will complete the two-game series with the Leprechauns Tuesday night at 7:05 p.m.
