The Muskegon Clippers dropped the final game of a two-game road series with the Lake Erie Monarchs 7-3 on Wednesday night, snapping their three-game winning streak.

The Monarchs scored one run in the first inning and the Clippers answered with a Cameron Bair RBI double in the second.

Lake Erie scored two runs in both the third and fourth innings to take a 5-2 lead.

The Clippers scratched across another run in the eighth inning on a Wyatt Featherston RBI double to cut their deficit to 6-3, then the Monarchs tacked on another run to end the scoring.

Featherston and Peter Zimmerman led the Clippers offense with three hits apiece while Bair and Brian Sobieski added two hits each.

Starting pitcher Zach Taglieri got the loss, pitching four innings while allowing four earned runs and striking out three. Jay Cortese and Brian Taggett combined to throw the final four innings.

Muskegon is now 6-7 and in third place in the Great Lakes Collegiate League’s Northern Division standings.

The Clippers will continue their road trip with a three-game series against the Irish Hills Leprechauns, with a doubleheader on Thursday and a single game on Friday.
