Three local teams and one individual player competed in the Michigan High School Athletic Association state girls tennis finals on Friday and Saturday.

In Division 3, Spring Lake finished in 10th place with nine points while Fruitport finished 12th with six points.

Vanessa Heylmun, an individual state qualifier from Whitehall, lost her opening match in No. 1 singles.

In Division 4, North Muskegon finished tied for 10th place with 10 points. The Norse No 1 doubles team of Belles Hardman and Mary Hoopes lost in the No. 1 doubles semifinals.
