The West Michigan Whitecaps opened the second half of their season on Thursday with a 5-4 walk-off home victory versus Lansing.

In the bottom of the tenth, Danny Pinero singled to left field to score Josh Lester for the win after Lester singled and advanced to second on a Austin Athmann sacrifice bunt earlier in the inning.

Danny Woodrow, Anthony Pereira, and Sam Machonis all led West Michigan with two hits on the night while Pereira also had two RBIs.

Relief pitcher John Schreiber picked up his second victory of the year, improving his record to 2-1 while striking out two in 1 2/3 innings.

West Michigan, now 46-22 on the year, will continue its home series with Lansing on Friday night at 7 p.m.
