The West Michigan Whitecaps used a stellar pitching performance from Eudis Idrogo on Saturday to defeat Dayton 5-1.

Idrogo threw a complete game while striking out 10, walking two and surrendering one run on three hits. With the win, Idrogo is now 3-2 on the year.

Austin Athmann led the Whitecaps offense with three hits while Cam Gibson added a 2-run single.

West Michigan is now 40-21 and three games ahead of Dayton and South Bend for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division with eight games left in the first half.

The Whitecaps will continue their home series with Dayton at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
