The West Michigan Whitecaps lost 4-3 in 11 innings to Great Lakes on Friday night in the first game of their 11 game road trip.

West Michigan scored two runs in the eighth inning to tie the game at 2-2 before taking a 3-2 lead in the ninth.

Great Lakes however responded with a run of their own in the ninth to force extra innings before winning on a Carlos Rincon walk-off home run in the eleventh.

Austin Athmann and Danny Pinero led West Michigan with two hits each while Danny Woodrow, Cole Bauml, and David Gonzalez all had one RBI.

West Michigan will continue its series in Midland against Great Lakes on Saturday at 7:05 p.m.
