The West Michigan Whitecaps swept their four game series with Bowling Green with a 3-1 victory in the final game Monday night.

West Michigan is 87-43 on the year and 42-21 in the second half, three and a half games ahead of Fort Wayne for first place in the Midwest League Eastern Division second half standings.

Whitecap starter Tom de Blok picked up a no-decision while shutting out Bowling Green over seven innings in which he gave up two hits and struck out eight.

Relief pitcher John Schreiber picked up his fifth win of the year, allowing one unearned run in the final two innings while striking out four.

Chad Sedio had a solo home run for West Michigan while catcher Drew Longley drove in two in the eighth inning to put West Michigan ahead.

West Michigan will have an off day on Tuesday before traveling to South Bend for a series beginning on Wednesday at 7:05 p.m.
