The Western Michigan Christian boys’ soccer team opened its 50th season with a pair of victories on Saturday at the Kevin Witte Memorial Tournament at Holland Christian High School.

The Warriors rallied to beat Holland Christian 3-2 in their first game.

Holland Christian struck first, then the Warriors quickly got even with a goal by Adam Van Hoven, with an assist from Tyler Van Beek.

The Maroons pulled ahead with another goal, but WMC tied it again when Charlie Alfree scored with another assist from Van Beek.

Evan Fles scored the game winner, and Van Beek collected his third assist of the game. WMC goalkeeper Jacob Moser got the win.

WMC finished its day with a 4-0 victory over Kalamazoo Christian.

Brandon Fles drew first blood for the Warriors with an assist from Seth Vander Kooi. Evan Fles scored the second goal (assist Owen Alfree).

Brant Zeerip and Evan Fles added the last two goals for WMC. Moser and Jameson Goorman combined to get the shutout in goal.
